Spend a day in our purpose built, fully equipped workshop learning all the basic traditional blacksmithing skills.

After covering health and safety procedures you will be shown the tools, equipment and how to light and use the forge properly.

You will forge a selection of basic items including nails, hooks, fire pokers or bottle openers. Everything you make can be taken away.

The day

You will cover many of the traditional skills used by blacksmiths, as well as work with steel at different temperatures and learn how to judge the heat of the metal in the fire.

This is an extremely enjoyable but physical day working in the forge. We work through several projects that enable you to learn the basic techniques that blacksmiths have used throughout the ages, and at the end of the day you will take home all your forged metalwork.

There are a maximum of 8 places on each course making this an intense and fun day but also allowing you to progress at your own pace.

Lunch is also provided (as well as tea, coffee) – so you just need to arrive and we provide the rest.
