The tradition behind this style of knife dates back to medieval times when it was common for people to carry a small single piece knife (no wooden handle). Used for gathering plants , mushrooms and  herbs and were often hung from a belt or worn around the wrist.

We have just purchased 2 foraging knives from Alex at the Bath Christmas fair. They are a first class tool with an extremely sharp blade and look like they survive just about anything we (or life in general) can throw at them!
As we are long bow archers they will shortly adorn the belts supporting our quivers ready to cut and trim ragged serving on the bow string or cutting our lunch time sandwiches!
    Thanks Alex
