FIRE COOKING & FORGING BBQ TOOLS with CHEF ANA ORTIZ
A fantastic combination of blacksmithing workshop and fire cookery school
BLACKSMITHING : You will learn the basic range of traditional blacksmithing skills and how to forge a stainless BBQ tool set .
FIRE SCHOOL : This will be hosted by Galapagos fire chef ANA ORTIZ - who will demonstrate a range of Asado fire cooking skills along with use, care and maintenance of your newly forged utensils. Students will get to help prep and cook a meal to enjoy at the end of the day.
The group will be split into two - one group forging their BBQ tools, while the other group learns the skills of open fire cooking and preparation of the evening meal - and then swap over after lunch.
There are a wide variety of skills explored during this introductory course that include forging, forming and riveting - No previous experience required.
ANA ORTIZ : Ana grew up on the Galapagos islands and her earliest memories of fire cooking are with her grandparents. She and her partner Tom Bray founded the FIRE MADE KITCHENS company to produce outdoor cooking equipment and ovens.
PHYSICAL LEVEL : Basic
TIMES - Workshop 9am - 5pm. EVENING MEAL - 6pm onwards
MEALS - A simple cold lunch will be provided, as well as tea and coffee throughout the day.
CAMPING AND ACCOMMODATION - There is camping walking distance from the forge at COPPET HILL CAMPING (www.coppethill.co.uk) or else plenty of local accommodation available.
